LGE 2026 | Final weekend to register to vote
The Electoral Commission has activated its Online Candidate Nomination System for political parties and independent candidates.
Chief Electoral Officer, Sy Mamabolo, made the announcement at the Commission’s headquarters in Centurion.
The system allows election participants to capture and manage candidate lists, documentation and payments.
The IEC also explained the processes that will follow the proclamation of the elections.
These include closing the voters’ roll at midnight on the day it is proclaimed, prohibiting new voter registrations until after the poll, and issuing the Electoral Code of Conduct, in terms of the Municipal Electoral Act.
To date, 76 parties and 39 independent candidates are using the system.
