Leopards spotted in South Africa’s West Coast region for the first time in 170 years
In the seventeenth century, leopards were hunted out of South Africa’s West Coast region.
170 years later, they seem to have returned.
A small group of seven leopards have been spotted in the region north of Cape Town, including two cubs. Conservationists suggest that fewer livestock farmers and more eco-estates and conservancies have made the region more attractive to the big cats.
