Lebanon and Israel agree to a 10-day ceasefire: Can it hold? | DW News
Trump has announced a US-brokered ten day-ceasefire between Lebanon and Israel. But there are major obstacles to the success of this deal: The disarmament of Hezbollah remains an unresolved obstacle, Israel refuses to withdraw from a “security zone” in southern parts of Lebanon and direct talks between Lebanese President Aoun and Israel’s Prime Minister Netanyahu are far from certain.
Sibylline Middle East analyst Megan Sutcliffe underlines that it is not a given that this temporary agreement will lead to a sustainable peace.
