Keir Starmer faces Labour revolt as Cabinet Ministers and nearly 80 MPs demand he resign
UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer is facing growing pressure to resign following calls from nearly 80 MPs and fellow Cabinet Members.
According to The Times, Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood and Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper told Starmer he should consider resigning.
Following Starmer’s speech in the wake of huge Labour losses in the elections over the weekend, six ministerial aides quit.
During Starmer’s speech, he addressed the “doubters” within his own party and vowed to “prove them wrong”.
Despite Starmer’s plans to remain in power, up to 77 MPs have demanded the PM resign or set a deadline for his departure, according to The Australian.
