Joseph Kabila denounces US sanctions against him

The former president of the Democratic Republic of Congo, Joseph Kabila, has denounced the sanctions imposed on him by the United States as unjustified and politically motivated. The US Treasury announced the measures last week, accusing Kabila of providing financial support to the M23 rebel group, which has seized swathes of territory in eastern DRC since 2021.
