Jewish journalist fires back after Labor MP brands her antisemitic
Sky News Senior Reporter Caroline Marcus rejects what she calls Mark Dreyfus’ “absurd” accusation of antisemitism, arguing the former attorney-general omitted crucial context.
“I need to respond to an absurd accusation of anti-semitism levelled against me by former attorney-general Mark Dreyfus,” Ms Marcus said.
“No, according to Nine newspapers, the most distressing label he’d been given was being called a kapo, a word I’d used to describe him last year.
“Really? That’s the most pernicious abuse Dreyfus says he suffered?
“What he failed to mention in his submission and which I find disingenuous is that this, yes, very strongly worded criticism came from a fellow descendant of Holocaust survivors.
“At our very own Sky News antisemitism summit, Dreyfus angered the crowd when he blamed the Opposition and media outlets like ours for weaponising antisemitism. Many Jewish audience members booed him, and some even walked out.”
