In a big setback to Donald Trump’s efforts to secure a peace agreement with Iran, a top Iranian lawmaker has drawn the red line over the world’s critical oil chokepoint. Ebrahim Azizi, head of Iran’s National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, told Sputnik that Russia and China will continue to receive “special treatment” and favorable conditions regarding passage through the strategic waterway. His remarks come amid ongoing tensions between Tehran and Washington and uncertainty over a possible US-Iran agreement. Azizi also said the issue of removing enriched uranium from Iran is not currently being discussed in talks involving Iran, Pakistan, or the United States.
