Iran war: Hegseth argues ceasefire pauses 60-day deadline

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Joint Chiefs Chairman Gen. Dan Caine testified before Senate lawmakers Thursday, speaking under oath about the U.S. war in Iran.

The conflict faces a key deadline Friday under the War Powers Act, which gives the Trump administration 60 days to launch an offensive attack without further action from Congress. Friday marks 60 days since “Operation Epic Fury” was launched in Tehran. Hegseth argued the 60-day timeline has paused due to the ongoing ceasefire.
