Iran planning lethal plot against Americans overseas, per US official
U.S. officials are warning of an escalating Iranian threat to American personnel overseas, citing an intelligence memo that reveals lethal plotting against U.S. citizens has reached advanced stages in the Middle East and other nations. The warning follows a State Department order directing nonemergency U.S. staff to evacuate Saudi Arabia amid intensifying clashes between Houthi rebels and a Saudi-led coalition, alongside staff reductions at American embassies in Jordan, Lebanon, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates. The regional instability coincides with a high-stakes election on Tuesday in Israel, where Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who has been endorsed by President Trump, faces a potential loss of power. Professor Alon Burstein joins LiveNOW’s Austin Westfall to discuss these latest headlines.
