Iran Laughs As France Burns; Araghchi Reminds Macron Of Support To U.S. As Riots Sweep Paris
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has sharply criticised French President Emmanuel Macron, accusing him of contributing to the conflict involving Iran and then blaming the war for France’s economic and political pressures.
Araghchi seized on the latest protests in France to urge Macron to “listen to the future of France,” while Tehran also accused the French leader of double standards on military deterrence. His remarks came as nationwide demonstrations over living costs and public services triggered mass arrests, looting and fresh political pressure on Macron’s government.
