Inside Australia’s legal MDMA and magic mushroom trade | The Business | ABC NEWS
For decades, MDMA and magic mushrooms have been traded underground and illegally ingested in the shadows of parties and nightclubs.
But at a manufacturing hub in Brisbane, MDMA and the mushroom’s active ingredient, psilocybin, are being packed into capsules, for hospitals and clinics across the country.
MDMA and psilocybin are used to treat post-traumatic stress disorder and drug-resistant depression in combination with psychotherapy in clinics, where the treatment is given under strict supervision.
For the first time, the ABC takes you behind the scenes of its production line, inside the vaults, and all the way to the patients in therapy.
