Indian police break up ‘cockroach’ hunger strike | DW News


Police in Delhi have forcibly moved a prominent activist on hunger strike to hospital citing concerns for his health. Sonam Wangchuk had gone 20 days without food, and stays determined to continue his strike at the hospital. The 59-year old engineer was supporting the so-called Cockroach Janta Party, which has gained a mass following in its protest against irregularities in India’s university examination system. DW Correspondent Shalu Yadav visited the site of the protest.
