Impeachment Committee extends Phala Phala evidence leader nomination deadline

Parliament’s impeachment committee has postponed the selection of an evidence leader for the Phala Phala inquiry, extending the deadline for nominations until Friday.

The candidates – Zinzile Matebese, Kate Hofmeyr, Vuyani Ngalwana, Ismail Jamie, and Pule Seleka – will remain in the pool, with additional eligible nominees to be added after the verification process is complete.

The chairperson of the committee, Makashule Gana, urged political parties and committee members to submit nominations as soon as possible to allow the legal team time to verify candidates’ availability and complete the necessary due diligence.

A final list of available candidates will be distributed to members on Monday, giving parties time to consult and lobby ahead of the committee meeting on the 29th of July.
