Illegal Dumping | Waste harms businesses, health & the environment
Illegal dumping is taking a toll on local businesses, public health and the environment, with overflowing waste creating unhygienic conditions in affected communities.
Residents say the problem is being driven in part by a lack of resources and inadequate waste management services, forcing some people to dispose of refuse wherever they can.
Minister in the Presidency Khumbudzo Ntshavheni has urged communities to dump waste responsibly and says government is working closely with residents to curb the practice.
This as concerns remain that the recent Municipal Workers Union wage protest has worsened the situation by disrupting waste collection services.
