Humanoid robot wins half-marathon, beats human world record
In case you missed it, a humanoid robot has won a half-marathon in Beijing, China, beating human competitors and smashing the human world record, held by Jacob Kiplimo, of 57 minutes and 20 seconds.
More than 100 robotics teams took part, split into two groups: autonomous navigation and remote control.
Smartphone company Honor designed the winning machine, named Lightning, which ran the course in 50 minutes and 26 seconds using autonomous navigation — less than half the time of last year’s robot victor.
Humans and robots started the race at the same time, running on parallel tracks to prevent collisions.
