Human hair helps protect Brazil’s waters from oil pollution
Sausage-shaped filters made from human hair are helping protect the Bom Jesus inlet in Guanabara Bay from oil pollution.
To create the filters, salons are providing leftover hair clippings. The results of the hair-based oil barriers will be monitored over the coming years.
