Harrowing video has captured the moment a seaplane carrying eight people hit the choppy waters of New York City’s East River in a hard landing that left the aircraft partially submerged.
Footage from inside the plane captured the moment the Kodiak 100 hit the East River as it approached the Skyport terminal along 23rd Street and FDR Drive, the New York Post reported.
In the clip shared with the publication, a loud boom could be heard when the plane first hits the waters, with the passengers inside audibly gasping before the entire aircraft is rocked the next second.
