Haley Stevens endorses Mike Rogers; Abdul El-Sayed reacts days before Senate election in Michigan

Rep. Haley Stevens − who lost Michigan’s Democratic Senate primary to now-Democratic nominee Abdul El-Sayed − endorsed his Republican opponent, former Rep. Mike Rogers, in the state’s battleground race for the upper chamber.

The striking cross-party endorsement ratcheted up the tension in an already contested race. The Michigan Senate election is one of a handful of the most closely watched contests in the country. Both parties are battling for control of the Senate, which Republicans lead 53-47.
