German Navy Gears Up for Potential Hormuz Minesweeping Mission #shorts

Germany’s Navy said any potential minesweeping mission in the Strait of Hormuz would depend on how densely mines are laid, which would determine how long operations take. Vice Admiral Jan Kaack said crews would first identify mined areas and then clear safe routes for merchant shipping, with current discussions focused on risk and response measures. More than a dozen countries have expressed willingness to join a maritime protection mission, while around 50 nations joined recent planning talks led by France and Britain. Chancellor Friedrich Merz said Germany is prepared in principle to contribute, but stressed that any deployment would require at least a provisional ceasefire.
