Garden Route | Bad weather disrupts rescue operations
The Garden Route Disrict Municipality says officials have discovered the body of a man who tried to cross a river at Klaarstroom near Meiringspoort in the Little Karoo this weekend. The man was swept away by the floodwaters. His body was spotted in Meiringspoort after his father searched for him. The municipality says his body will be recovered when weather permits for a helicopter to fly. A 63-year-old woman also died after a tree fell on her in George during gale force winds. This is the third person to die since inclement weather hit the area last week. In Knysna last week, a 37-year-old woman died after a tree fell on top of her car in gale force winds.
