French parliament ousts Prime Minister François Bayrou
France’s parliament has brought down the government over its plans to tame the ballooning national debt, after politicians voted to oust Prime Minister François Bayrou and his minority government.
President Emmanuel Macron, who is facing calls to dissolve parliament and resign, will now have to select his fifth prime minister in less than two years.
The next government’s most pressing task will be to pass a budget, the same challenge Bayrou faced when he took office nine months ago.
