France’s worst fires since WWII | Rohingya arrests in Malaysia | Netanyahu arrives for Trump meeting


French President Emmanuel Macron says his country faces the toughest fire situation since the Second World War… as efforts continue to subdue a massive blaze threatening Bordeaux.

The fire in the Gironde region has ‘stabilised’ but is not ‘contained’, according to authorities. It remains around 15 kilometres from the city.

Another fire to the south, in the Landes department, is now under control.

In Spain, the spread of three fires northwest of Madrid has slowed … but another blaze near Valencia continues to burn.
