Former German Chancellor Angela Merkel has been awarded the European Order of Merit for her achievements by the EU. But her legacy is not without criticism.

Angela Merkel was among other 20 laureates who were honored for their achievements for the European Union. Other laureates were Moldovan President Maia Sandu, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and former Polish president Lech Wałęsa.
