Fire breaks out at Geelong oil refinery
Victorian firefighters are battling a “significant” blaze that broke out overnight at Viva Energy’s refinery in Geelong, one of Australia’s two operational oil refineries.
Fire Rescue Victoria said the fire at started about 11pm on Wednesday, and is still not under control, but that there was no threat to the public.
The refinery is still producing diesel and jet fuel at a reduced rate, while the impact on petrol production remains in question.
