Economic pressures spark global protests

Several European countries are experiencing a wave of protests, driven by mounting economic and social pressures.

In France, demonstrations began last month over school conditions and teacher shortages, particularly in working-class suburbs.

Protesters have since broadened their demands to include the rising cost of living, public spending cuts and inequality.

French President Emmanuel Macron has condemned acts of looting and destruction during the unrest.

There have also been protests in Portugal, Albania and Italy, as well as Tunisia in North Africa.
