Drunk Driver Sentenced in Officer’s Death | NewsdayTV
A Hauppauge man has been sentenced to 7⅓ to 22 years in prison for the drunken-driving crash that killed Nassau County Police Officer Patricia Espinosa.
Prosecutors said Matthew Smith was speeding, ran a red light and had a blood alcohol content of 0.20% when he struck Espinosa’s vehicle as she was driving to work in January.
