Israeli forces have conducted new incursions into southern Syria, establishing a temporary checkpoint, searching passersby and reportedly firing into the Quneitra countryside. According to Syria’s state news agency SANA, five Israeli military vehicles entered al-Samdaniyah al-Sharqiyah, while troops stationed in al-Hamidiyah fired a mortar shell and smoke grenade toward the surrounding area. No casualties were reported. The operations followed another incursion near Koudna Dam involving six Israeli vehicles and overhead drone activity. Damascus says Israel’s repeated movements violate Syrian sovereignty and the 1974 Disengagement Agreement. Israel argues that its expanded presence is necessary to prevent hostile forces from operating near the occupied Golan Heights. Syrian authorities, however, accuse Israel of exploiting regional instability to entrench itself and impose a new military reality inside Syrian territory. Watch.
