Donald Trump reacts after conservative activist Charlie Kirk dies following Utah shooting
Donald Trump has confirmed Charlie Kirk is dead after the conservative activist was shot while speaking at an event at Utah Valley University.
The US President shared a post on Truth Social, confirming the founder of Turning Point USA did not survive the shooting.
“The great, and even legendary, Charlie Kirk, is dead. No one understood or had the heart of the youth in the United States of America better than Charlie,” Mr Trump posted.
“He was loved and admired by all, especially me, and now, he is no longer with us. Melania and my sympathies go out to his beautiful wife Erika, and family. Charlie, we love you.”
His announcement comes just under two hours after calling for people to pray for Mr Kirk after he was taken to hospital following the shooting at about 12.10pm at the university located in Orem, Utah.
