‘Dismissive attitude’: Renewed calls for Starmer to resign following explosive new claims

UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer is under increased pressure to resign after a former senior civil servant gave evidence into the vetting process of former US ambassador Peter Mandelson.

Olly Robbins accused the UK government of having a dismissive approach to Mr Mandelson’s vetting, describing pressure from higher ups to just get it done.

Mr Robbins claimed there was an “atmosphere of pressure” as well as “constant chasing”.

“The handover briefing … was what I felt was a generally dismissive attitude to his vetting clearance, and a position taken from the cabinet office was that there was no need to vet Mandelson,” he said.
