De Beers’ Venetia mine pauses production
Workers at De Beers’ Venetia mine in Alldays in Limpopo say they are shocked by the company’s decision to pause production for two years.
The move has put over 1,200 jobs at risk at South Africa’s biggest diamond mine.
Some workers say they have already received Section 189A or retrenchment notices, while formal consultations are expected to begin in due course.
