Cycling to a better education


Sport is more than just winning or losing, it is character building, it teaches discipline,…team sports teach the basic concepts of working as a group and lifting teammates who are in need.

Our next interview touches on many of those aspects that I have just mentioned.

The 1965 Ride was a concept created by Queens College Boys High formner scholar Tony Frost, who used cycling to help raise funds for students who have what it takes to go to schools like Queens College Boys but not have the funds.

To talk to us about this, we have roped in the school’s headmaster Mr Janse van der Ryst and and Old Boy of the school Siliziwe Mafika who has done the journey from Johannesburg to Queenstown a number of times on a bicycle.
