Controversial amendments to child protection laws passed in NT Parliament

The Northern Territory Parliament has passed controversial amendments to its child protection laws.

The Country Liberal Government says the overhaul creates a universal principle that places a child’s safety above all else.

But Aboriginal leaders and human rights groups have condemned the changes saying they erode existing standards and will lead to more Indigenous child removals.
