Concerns over statutory rape cases in Northern Cape
Northern Cape police say they are concerned about the number of incidents of statutory rapes in the province.
A number of these cases only come to light due to mandatory reporting by Health officials when the teenage girls fall pregnant.
While most of these cases result in conviction, the sentences for these crimes are mostly suspended sentences.
