Disturbing on-the-ground footage obtained by The Yonkers Ledger has captured the moment voting machine scanners began rejecting ballots in Westchester County, New York, triggering widespread delays and confusion on Midterm Election Day. The countywide breakdown—initially blamed on paper thickness before officials confirmed a software mismatch between printed ballots and scanning programming—affected more than 330 polling locations across 40 municipalities. Westchester County Executive Ken Jenkins slammed the failure as “completely unacceptable,” announcing a formal bipartisan inquiry while poll workers scrambled to collect un-scanned ballots in secure emergency orange bags. With pivotal congressional battles on the line, both Republican US Rep. Mike Lawler and State Sen. Pete Harckham took to polling sites to reassure anxious voters that every single ballot will be safely tabulated once polls close.
