Treasurer Jim Chalmers has rejected concerns that a potential cash stimulus of up to $300 in the upcoming federal budget would fuel inflation. He characterised Reserve Bank Governor Michelle Bullock’s warning about pumping extra money into the economy as hypothetical. Chalmers has neither confirmed nor denied whether the income offset will feature in the budget to be handed down next week.
