Bridgitte Mabandla testifies at TRC Cases Inquiry
Former Justice Minister, Bridgitte Mabandla, after much agonising, says she is positive that she did not call former NDPP, Silas Ramaite, in 2004, instructing him to stop the arrest of those guilty of the 1983 poisoning of anti-apartheid activist, Reverend Frank Chikane.
Mabandla has been testifying at the TRC Cases Inquiry in Johannesburg.
In his earlier testimony, Ramaite said the former minister was pushing forward with her instruction, even after he pointed out that she was interfering in the work of the NPA.
Mabandla was Justice Minister between 2004 and 2008.
In her initial affidavit, she emphasised that while she had no recollection of the alleged call, she categorically denies ever giving such an instruction.
