BREAKING: Yemen Bombards NATO Giant; Germans ‘FLEE’ Middle East As Iran Ally Achieves Big Hit
German lubricant producer FUCHS has suspended operations at its joint-venture facility in Yanbu, Saudi Arabia, after a major fire severely damaged its production and filling units. The shutdown followed Houthi missile and drone attacks against Saudi energy facilities in Yanbu on July 25, although FUCHS has not publicly confirmed that those strikes directly caused the fire. No employees were injured. The company, which owns a 32-percent stake in Alhamrani Fuchs Petroleum, is arranging alternative production and sourcing while preparing to rebuild the damaged plant. Yemen’s Houthis have declared a maritime blockade against Saudi Arabia and claimed repeated attacks on Yanbu and Jizan. The closure does not represent a shutdown of Yanbu’s entire export system, but it demonstrates how the confrontation is spreading beyond Saudi state infrastructure to European manufacturers, international supply chains and foreign investment. Watch.
