Border Bust: $20M of cocaine found stashed in floorboards of big rig

Federal authorities say they seized more than 1,000 pounds of cocaine worth an estimated $20 million hidden beneath the floorboards of a commercial truck entering the U.S. from Mexico, making it the second-largest cocaine bust in Southern California this year.

Border Protection officers detected anomalies during an X-ray inspection of a rebar-laden trailer crossing from Mexico

The driver, 44-year-old Mexican national Jose Manuel Lopez, was arrested at the Calexico Port of Entry and charged with importing cocaine into the United States.

The only larger cocaine seizure in the Southern District of California this year came in May, when authorities uncovered more than a ton of cocaine worth an estimated $45 million linked to an alleged cross-border drug tunnel.

FOX News’ Natalie Chuck joined LiveNOW’s Mike Pache to discuss the details of the drug bust.
