Queensland politician Bob Katter advocates for children as young as 12 to be taught firearm use and recreational shooting to encourage outdoor activities and reduce screen time. Katter supports Victoria’s proposal to merge fishing and gaming authorities to promote outdoor pursuits and strengthen Australia’s hunting culture. In Queensland, children can currently hold a minor weapons licence from age 11, while other states and territories set the minimum age at 12.
