Australia weighs US proposal to form coalition to open Strait of Hormuz | ABC NEWS

The Trump administration is seeking the participation of other countries to form an international coalition called the ‘Maritime Freedom Construct’ to open the Strait of Hormuz in a “post-conflict” scenario.
Foreign Minister Penny Wong has confirmed Australia has been briefed by the US about its latest proposal and was “engaging on options”.
The discussions could mark significant step in Australia’s involvement in the Middle East, after criticism from the US president that Australia has not assisted in his blockade of the strait.
