Australia to boost military budget by $53 billion
Defence Minister Richard Marles has warned of a new nuclear arms race, as he unveiled a commitment to lift Australia’s defence spending to 3 per cent of GDP by 2033.
Around $53 billion has been flagged for the next ten years – including increases in spending on the AUKUS submarine pact.
But, it’s far from the spend initially called for by the United States.
