Arun Khetarpal: India’s Youngest Param Vir Chakra Hero 🇮🇳 | 1971 Indo-Pak War | #TheStatesman


Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal, just 21, became India’s youngest Param Vir Chakra awardee for his extraordinary bravery during the 1971 Indo-Pak War.

As a tank commander in the Battle of Basantar, he destroyed multiple enemy tanks and halted the enemy’s advance, even after his own tank was critically hit. His fearless stand and supreme sacrifice made him a legend in Indian military history.

Khetarpal’s tank ‘Famagusta’ is now preserved at the Armoured Corps Centre and School in Ahmednagar, and his legacy is honored with a bust at the National War Memorial in New Delhi and an auditorium at the Indian Military Academy, Dehradun.
