Former Orlando Pirates and Sekhukhune United midfielder Linda ‘Figo’ Mntambo is enjoying spending time with family after he recently announced retirement.
After 13 years in professional football, where he also played for Jomo Cosmos and Chippa United, the 37-year-old Mntambo said he doesn’t have regrets about leaving the game that has given him a lot.
Mntambo said he is now fully focused on his work as a TV analyst and working with brands as an ambassador and he has no immediate ambitions of going into coaching.
Mntambo he had to be strong mentally and work hard when no one was watching to overcome the challenges he faced due of numerous serious injuries that threatened his career.
Asked to wear his analyst cap, Mntambo said Pirates are going to feel the absence of star attacker Relebohile Mofokeng but they have good players to replace him.
He also picked Bafana Bafana star attacker Oswin Appollis as his Footballer of the Season.
