An anti-war protester interrupted US Secretary of Defence Pete Hegseth during a Senate Appropriations Committee hearing on the Iran war and President Trump’s 2027 Department of Defence budget proposal on Tuesday, May 12.

Footage released by C-SPAN shows a protester interrupting Hegseth’s opening remarks during the hearing in Washington, DC, saying that approving the budget would make them complicit in “the war crimes of this administration.”

Trump requested a $1.5 trillion budget for the Pentagon for “base discretionary” spending and “critical Administration priorities,” according to local news reports.

This request is separate from the Pentagon’s $200 billion request to fund US military operations against Iran, local news reported.
