Amit P Javalgi, IGP, Barasat Range, statement on Sandeshkhali firing incident
Amit P Javalgi, IGP, Barasat Range, addressed the media on the Sandeshkhali violence incident in West Bengal. He stated that police and CAPF personnel were attacked while investigating an earlier assault on houses in a village panchayat.
According to officials, one individual sustained a gunshot injury to the leg, while several CAPF jawans suffered minor injuries. A woman constable was also injured and all were rushed to the hospital.
Authorities have detained and interrogated multiple individuals, with four arrests confirmed so far. Raids are ongoing to apprehend others involved. Police also recovered explosives from certain areas and have seized them, with further action underway.
