Alaska Senate election update: DOJ press conference announces civil and criminal investigations
After a New York Times report suggested Mary Peltola’s Senate campaign was involved in recruiting the second Dan Sullivan to run – a claim her campaign has denied – Alaska U.S. Attorney Michael J. Heyman announced Friday that the DOJ is a conducting civil and criminal investigations. Alaska Republican Gov. Mike Dunleavy has also ordered an investigation.
They also announced that a preliminary injunction that would block Alaska from certifying its Senate election result if Republican Senator Dan Sullivan loses and votes cast for another candidate named Dan J. Sullivan could theoretically change the outcome.
