AHF SA urges countries to deliver pandemic deal

AIDS Healthcare Foundation South Africa is warning that the world is on the brink of repeating COVID-19-era inequality if countries fail to agree on a binding system to share vaccines, treatments, and technology fairly. AHF is urging WHO Member States to finalize a strong, binding Pathogen Access and Benefit-Sharing Annex to the WHO Pandemic Agreement ahead of the resumed sixth meeting of the Inter-governmental Working Group session in Geneva. AFH says the WHO Pandemic Agreement cannot advance without the PABS Annex, which governs how pathogen samples and genetic data are shared. The upcoming negotiating session comes at a critical moment, with key equity provisions still unresolved. To talk about AHF’s call we are now joined by Dr Jorge Saveedra, the Executive Director, AHF Global Public Health Institute.
