A gift to Putin? Trump’s Russian diesel deal sparks outrage | World News Tonight
Our stories today:
– TRUMP’S DIESEL DEAL
Cheaper fuel for Americans but at what cost to Ukraine? Donald Trump has struck a deal for millions of barrels of Russian diesel, temporarily easing sanctions to slash prices at the pump before November’s midterm elections. Volodymyr Zelenskyy calls it a gift to Putin that will bankroll the war. And with Ukrainian drones hammering Russian refineries, many are asking whether Moscow can even deliver.
– NO END IN SIGHT FOR UKRAINE WAR
Kyiv went to Miami hoping for support but instead was ambushed on site. During talks with the Ukrainian delegation, Donald Trump not only eased sanctions on Russia, but threatened to cut off intelligence sharing, unless Ukraine stops hitting Russian energy sites. Vladimir Putin is again coming out on top, ruling out peace talks and getting free concessions from Washington. And with a massive budget deficit looming, Ukraine is running out of options.
– RUSSIAN GLIDE BOMB KILLS 20 IN ZAPORIZHZHIA
While the rift widens on the diplomatic front, Russia continues its terror campaign against civilians in Ukraine. In Zaporizhzhia, Russian glide bombs tore through a residential neighborhood, killing 20 people, including 3 children. That toll is expected to rise as rescue teams continue to scour through the rubble.
