NW residents frustrated by high unemployment rate

The second quarter labour force survey has painted a bleak picture in terms of unemployment statistics in North West.

The province has been struggling over the years to create jobs, though it is home to mining operations and agriculture.

According to StatsSA’s Labour Force Survey, North West is one of the three provinces that shed jobs in the second quarter of 2026.

This comes four months after the North West Provincial Growth and Development Strategy was launched by the provincial government.
