Oil prices surge after Trump rejects Iran peace proposal

CommSec’s Gillian Bowen claims oil prices have surged dramatically after US President Donald Trump rejected Iran’s peace deal proposal.

“The war is continuing to play a role, so we were following developments this morning where we had heard that Iran had responded to the US proposal for peace,” Ms Bowen told Sky News Australia.

“The US president has been on social media this morning saying he’s read it, and as far as he’s concerned, Iran’s response is ‘totally unacceptable’.

“We had a look at what happened with Brent Crude futures when they opened a short time ago, they jumped more than three dollars, or three per cent at the open.”
